Affiliate disclosure.
truerecs lets musicians build pages showing the instruments, gear and software they genuinely use, and the clothing and accessories they genuinely wear. When you buy through a link on an artist's page, the artist and truerecs may earn a commission from the retailer or brand. The commission comes from the seller's marketing budget and never changes the price you pay.
Affiliate links
Most gear links on truerecs are affiliate links. Artists keep 100% of the commission on sales credited to them for their first 90 days, then 85% (truerecs keeps 15%). A sale is credited to an artist when it's bought from their page, or with them picked under “Credit an artist” on an item's page. Every page with a link that can earn a commission says so once, in a short note near the top (“Nova and truerecs may earn from links on this page.”, or “truerecs may earn” where the commission is ours); a page where nothing earns has none. truerecs participates in retailer programs including Amazon Associates and international Amazon programs, and earns from qualifying purchases as an Amazon Associate.
Gear guides
Gear guides (truerecs.com/guides) are truerecs' own research about musicians who don't have a page here, built from their public videos and interviews. The store buttons on a guide are paid links: truerecs earns the commission on those sales, and the artist is not paid and has not endorsed anything. A note near the top of the guide says “truerecs may earn from links on this page” whenever one of its buttons can, and a guide offers the same stores as the product's own page. If the artist claims the guide, it becomes their page and the usual artist split applies from then on.
Where we send you
We route you to a store that serves your country. Every outbound link carries a tag so the artist is credited for the sale. We log the click (item, artist, country, device) and never sell that data on individuals.
Free products and sponsorships
Artists sometimes receive products for free from brands, which may influence a recommendation. Where an artist has a paid relationship with a brand whose product appears on their page, the item is marked Sponsored and the brand appears under Partners. Paid posts from artists carry the platform's paid-partnership label. Gear a brand gave an artist for free through truerecs is marked Gifted by that brand, with no posting required, and the artist decides whether it stays on their page.
Artist products
Presets, samples, templates and lessons on an artist's page are the artist's own. When they link to the artist's own store (like Gumroad or Shopify), that store handles checkout and delivery and truerecs takes nothing. When they're sold on truerecs, truerecs is the seller and delivers the download; the artist keeps 100% of the price after the card fee for their first 90 days of sales here, then 92%.
Our commitment
Artists control what's on their page. Nobody is paid to fake a recommendation, and we never guarantee an endorsement to any brand.
