How does truerecs make money?
Stores pay us a commission on sales nobody is credited for, like a fan who finds an item through search and buys without going through an artist. Later, brands pay for campaigns, with our fee added on top of yours. On sales credited to you, most of the commission is yours: all of it for your first 90 days, then 85%.
What could I realistically earn?
An example, not a promise. Music gear stores typically pay around 3 to 6% of a sale. Say fans buy $10,000 of gear through your page in one month, at a store paying 4%: that's about $400. You keep all of it in your first 90 days, and $340 after that. Your month depends on how many fans see your page and what they buy.
How do I earn?
Commissions when fans buy the gear on your page, or buy through you from any gear page on truerecs. And paid brand campaigns, which arrive in your inbox and you accept or decline.
How do payouts work?
A sale counts once the store confirms it, after its return window closes. Once your confirmed earnings reach $25, we pay you monthly; smaller amounts roll over to the next month. We email you when a sale is confirmed and when a payout goes out, and your portal shows every sale and payout.
Will this clash with my endorsement deal?
You decide what's on your page. If you have a deal, list their gear and leave competitors off. Sponsored and gifted items are labeled, so fans and brands can see what's paid. If your contract says anything about affiliate links, it applies here too.
Do I have to post?
No. It's a page that answers “what do you use?”, so you can point people to it instead of answering the same question in your DMs. Share it when you want to.
Do I have to promote anything I don't use?
No. Every item on your page is one you added, gear or clothes. Sponsored items are labeled, and you can decline any brand.
I make YouTube videos. Does it work for creators?
Yes. Make a “Gear in this video” list for each video, with timestamps, and put its link in the description instead of a pile of store links. Already have your own affiliate links? Keep them: they're used as they are on your page and your video lists.
I sell presets, packs or courses.
Add them to your page, two ways. Link each one to your own store (Gumroad, Shopify, Bandcamp, Patreon or your site): fans buy there and truerecs takes nothing. Or sell it on truerecs: you keep 100% after the card fee for 90 days from your first sale here, then 92%.
Can I add what I wear on stage?
Yes. A “What I wear” section sits alongside your gear: stage fits, footwear, eyewear, jewelry, bags. Fashion and lifestyle brands run campaigns on truerecs too, with the same labeling rules.
Does it work with my link-in-bio?
Yes. Add your truerecs page to Linktree or whatever you use now as one button. There's also a simple truerecs.com/yourname/links page if you'd rather use that.
