Questions

About Creedence Clearwater Revival's gear.

What guitar did John Fogerty play in CCR?

A Rickenbacker 325 he heavily modified with a Bigsby and a Les Paul bridge pickup, plus a black Les Paul Custom tuned down a whole step. He played a Gibson ES-175 on Proud Mary and a J-200 acoustic, and was reunited with his 1969 Rickenbacker 325 in 2017.

What amp did John Fogerty use?

A Kustom K200, the tuck-and-roll amp he has called an amazing rig, with a tremolo circuit he loved. Mix says Creedence sessions alternated the Kustom with a tweaked Fender Vibrolux, and on Cosmo's Factory he also plugged into a Fender Twin.

What bass did Stu Cook play?

Stu Cook has said all the CCR hits were recorded on a Fender Precision Bass through a Fender single Showman with a 2x15 cabinet. Later he played Mike Lull basses, including his SC5 signature, with MJC Ironworks strings and an Aguilar Tone Hammer.

What drums did Doug Clifford play?

A 1969 Camco kit, which he played at Woodstock and on Green River, Willy and the Poor Boys and Cosmo's Factory. It is now in the Musical Instrument Museum in Phoenix. He has called the Paiste 22-inch Blue Bell ride his go-to gear and says he is Paiste's longest endorsee.
