Questions

About Excision's gear.

What synths does Excision use?

In his 2013 Reddit AMA he said Massive is the go-to, also naming Albino, Predator and Gladiator, and said he had just got an Access Virus TI2. He added that everything by Native Instruments is killer.

What plugins does Excision use for mixing?

In the same AMA he said he loves FabFilter for EQ and compression, and that Audio Ease Altiverb is killer and he was using it in the studio, though convolution reverb is too heavy for producing on a laptop on planes.

What does Excision DJ with?

He has described a Serato and Ableton setup: Serato music videos for about 70 songs, with Ableton bridged to Serato so time code could trigger the lighting cues while he kept a real DJ set.

What sound system does Excision tour with?

PK Sound, since his first US tour in 2011. TPi reported a 225,000 watt rig on the 2019 Apex tour built on PK Sound's Trinity line array, which Excision said translates what he creates in the studio.

What music inspired Excision?

He has named The Prodigy's The Fat of the Land as the first electronic music that stood out to him and Vex'd's Degenerate as the album that showed him what dubstep could do. In 2013 he called Slipknot's Iowa his favorite album.
